On July 18, Korea Communications Commission Chairman Han Sang-hyuk visited the SBS office in Mokdong, Seoul to inspect whether Covid-19 quarantine measures were being followed on broadcasting production sites after social distancing rules were raised to Level 4. Chairman Han expressed his concern over the spike in Covid-19 cases centering on the Seoul metropolitan area, including among cast and celebrities on broadcast production sites. He requested that the “Quarantine Guidelines for Broadcast Production” be adhered to strictly. In January, the Korea Communications Commission drew up and distributed the “Guidelines on Broadcast Production Relating to Covid-19” and the “Quarantine Rules for Broadcast Filming Locations” which outline rules for broadcast programs by genre from the planning stages to after production is finished. Chairman Han emphasized implementing safe placement and social distancing for cast and crew from the planning stage of a broadcast production and requested everyone “do their utmost to comply with and improve quarantine measures considering the onset of the fourth wave of infections.” “It was found that the Korean public trusts terrestrial broadcasting the most for reliable information on Covid-19,” said Chairman Han, asking the staff to “do your best in carrying out disaster and emergency broadcasting to overcome this crisis.“ In light of the recent wave of Covid-19 cases and elevation of social distancing rules to level 4, the KCC plans to bolster inspections of quarantine measures implemented on broadcasting sites. |
